| I agree that mapecu is the EASIEST conversion to upgrade to a MAP system,not aware of any other product in its cheap price range that does, also, I'm not sure how specialty-Z's MAP system is in comparison for cost, install,setup, etc... What I do know is, as a community we are waaaaaaaay behind in comparison to other MAP based platforms... So for all the quantum leaps made in mods for our cars, ie: 2.5" piping, 3"exhaust, selin translator etc... We've seen great gains proven on the dyno blah blah... Just wondering why on earth all the major vendors and individuals developing products for our cars haven't pushed MAP.. The vast majority of folks here are somewhat sheep like, they follow what ever Vendor X or Y says like a cult like following. I understand the simple financial benefit that vendors get for those that stay MAF, but surely at some point in the relationship between profit Vs. progress, a line should be drawn, in-order for even more performance gains to be had, rather than pushing products that support MAF.. It works out sooooo much cheaper for us on the user end. I can see vendors losing some routine income from the common MAF related items folks order daily from around the world. The products or services provided by our major vendors and hobbyists that could potentially see a reduction in their annual sales VOLUME of those specific products in their catalogs if MAP upgrade finally caught on in this slow ass community could be: -ECU socketing
-ECU chip upgrades
-Selin translater
-SZ map selector
-Ash intake piping (since the MAP setup opens the door to reduce or eliminate excess piping a bit)
-Selin Elbow kit
-Boost controller
-Launch controller ^all of the above listed items could be affected, as most MAP based systems come with all of the listed electronics built-in anyways, + a vendor could potentially redesign a portion of the intake piping to reduce it from the elbows to behind the headlights or something (haven't thought that area out just yet) I can bet top dollar that if vendor X or Y co-signed a user friendly easy to install MAP based system (ie mapecu2 or 3, or any other reasonably priced and packaged map system of your choice if it exists), especially if the crack cocaine dyno charts are attached to that "co-signing", the sheep here will jump all over it an snort all that "new product release" thread UP! Lol... An they will buy it up lickity split, and rave about it as if many folks here haven't been advocating it for YEARS, (not referring to myself, search shows it). This is not intended to be a bash on DVDburn or any of our vendors, simply asking why do we as a whole invest so much time and $$$$$ into reinventing the same old MAF systems which inherently have the same intake restrictions of having that MAF stuffed in ur piping when that can be fixed by going MAP. Its cheaper overall since many of our auxiliary gadgets are built in, a tuner who works with MAP can still make a "chip" tune per say that is as good and reliable as any MAF based plug an play chip,etc... So allot of the same service conveniences could more or less be available with some moderate effort to support a MAP based system from customers wanting it, and vendors seeing the demand is there so its a system worth supporting for a revenue stream. In summary, if and when MAP finally catches on in the Z32 community, it opens up room for new heights, easier maintainance (MAF system needs to be air tight or ur Z can run like shit pissing u off with more down time troubleshooting this or that, where as a map system allows you to run her just fine until you set aside some time to trace periodic leaks an such that will arise over time regardless of whether your MAF or MAP..
